Nevertheless, She Persisted
Meet Courtney Nicole
For some, writing is a dreadful task. For you, it’s a way of life. Although you love writing, sometimes you wish there were a road map, or at least a trail of breadcrumbs to help you figure out this “writing life.” I will be honest, I don’t know everything about reaching your writing goals, but I’m willing to share what I do know. Having spent the last 5 years writing and editing my first book, I have learned a thing or two. You can look forward to blog posts discussing writing tips, lessons I’ve learned about writing, and things that I enjoy.
My name is Courtney Nicole, and I write Young Adult and New Adult Fiction. I write about women, for women. I am a firm believer in #womensupportingwomen. My goal is to celebrate the multi-dimensional stories of women -- especially women of color – with you, the reader.
Like many others, I have been writing since childhood. The first story that I remember writing was written in third grade. The assignment was to write a journal entry. The instructions weren’t clear, or maybe I was daydreaming, but I missed the part about journal entries being “real.” The teacher’s comments said that it was a “very nice story” but it wasn’t for my journal.
I am Midwestern native, living among the heat and sweet tea of the Southeast. I originally moved to the South to attend college. After graduation I attempted to realize my dream of becoming a “professional student.” That worked for awhile, as I went back to the Midwest for a second degree, and then on to the Southwest for a third. Eventually, I had to start adulting, and get a “real” job because student loans are very real, and benefits are important. At my 9 – 5, I work hard at the intersection of health care and privacy regulations.
When I’m not working or writing, I enjoy exploring new restaurants, socializing with family and friends, spending time outside (when the weather cooperates), and searching for inexpensive home décor.
